Portrait of Ephraim Littlefield the janitor who discovered the remains in of the body in the Webster murder Boston businessman George Parkman disappeared in November 1849, his dismembered and partially burned body was found in the laboratory of John Webster, a lecturer at Harvard Medical College by the college janitor. It was an early use of forensic medicine that helped identify the body.
