Buxolestes, illustration. This extinct prehistoric animal was a semi-aquatic, non-placental eutherian mammal. Its fossils have been found in Germany. It lived between 50 and 40 million years ago, during the Middle Eocene. It was similar in appearance and behaviour to an otter.
