AUTOMATIC BAGGINGAND WEIGHING MACHINE. The bag is attached to the hopperfunnel with its bottom resting onthe grated weighing platform. Thefeeding valve is then opened andconnected by an automatic latchto the weighing platform, whichdrops at a set weight of filling, dis-engaging the latch, when the valvecloses on the feed spout. The ad-justment is somewhat complicatedand allow^s for the average tare ofthe bags. 807. TURPENTINE STILL with by-products of creosote, pyro-ligneous acid, etc., produced by the destructive distillation of wood. The blocks of wood are placedin the retort, G, the door onthe right closed, the valve atthe conical end closed, andthe valve above opened. Wa-ter being introduced into thechambers to the level of thegrate bars, fire is appHed, andthe clear white spirit passes invapor by the neck, V, to theworm in the tub C.
