Storage bag. 1860–1880. United States. Bast fiber, two-strand weft-twining; with cornhusk supplementary weft-twining (false-embroidery);drawstring (possibly suede) The main difference between these two early bags is the internsity of the dyes. the bag to the right, probably made slightly earlier, has more vibrant colors because the patterns were created with reused, unraveled wool. The colors in this bag are more muted due to the use of cornhusk, which does not take dyes as well as Global View Recent Acquisitions of Textiles, 2012-2016, April 8-September 5, 2016
