John Wade, commander of Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), speaks with students at the Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) Command's Basic Division Officer Course (BDOC) at Naval Base San Diego. During his visit, Wade spoke with students about how to be successful as a new division officer in the fleet. SMWDC is one of the Navy's five Warfighting Development Centers and its mission is to increase the lethality and tactical proficiency of the Surface Force across all domains.
