Health and safety site, RLSD Sheffield, UK. This site provided laboratory services for the UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which formed in 1975. The HSE's Research and Laboratory Services Division (RLSD) was formed as a merger between the Safety in Mines Research Establishment (SMRE) the Occupational Medicine Laboratory, and other research laboratories. The RLSD laboratories were reorganised into the new Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) in 1995, with further reorganisation into a new building at Buxton in 2005 (see image C025/0179).
