This was sold and a lot purchased on the opposite side ofTrade Street, diagonally across from the U. S. Mint and AssayOffice. Here a Brick Chapel was erected, which was conse-crated by Bishop Ives on June 28, 1846. In 1856, the present site, at the corner of Tryon and SeventhStreets, was bought. The Church erected in 1856 was a beau-tiful type of Gothic architecture, as shown in the ,;;!- <-l! ? P
