Sgt. Michael Smith, left, a senior transmission systems operator/maintainer assigned to 58th Signal Company, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade was named Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Six NCOs and six Soldiers, representing each of the division’s brigades, began the competition, which included a Ranger Army Fitness Test, Army Warrior Tasks lanes, Weapons Qualification, a 15-mile foot march, and several other events that tested the Soldiers’ knowledge, and physical and mental toughness.
