She was in the highest and finest senseof the word the help meet of her husband and gave herself without stint inevery form of loving service. She was educated in the public schools of ScottCounty and in the Illinois Womans College at Jacksonville. She was themother of four children, but is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Blair,of Jacksonville, 111. When the Rev. Mr. McElfresh retired from the activeministry he located in Jacksonville, where he died eleven years ago and wherehis wife has been in the work of Centenary Church for twenty-five 1921 METHODIST EPISCOPAL, CHURCH 123 Sister McElfresh was happily spared many of the infirmities which come withadvancing years and never lost that sweetness of soul nor the sunniness ofoutlook which characterized this saint of God and endeared her beyond wordsto express to neighbors and friends. Funeral services were conducted by herpastor, the Rev. D. V. Gowdy, assisted by the district superintendent, E. , the Rev. T. H. Tull, and Dr. Joseph R. Harker, November 27, in Cen-tenary Church, and the body laid to rest in Diamond Grove Cemetery.
