Francesca Cuzzoni (1696-1778), Italian soprano, and Faustina Bordoni (1697-1781), Italian mezzo soprano. When they appeared together in Giovanni Bononcini’s Astianatte at the King’s Theatre, Haymarket, London, in 1727, a riot occurred between their rival fans.
