Lantern Slide 7: Gate-keeper’s house for the C & O Canal. It was put up in 1835 at the eastern terminus of the canal. At the present it serves as a men’s room and a Park Police lodge on Constitution Avenue at 17th Street. One of the Capitol Building’s old guard houses stands across the street from it.
