Athaliah hears the proclamation of Joash, 836 After the massacre at Jehu, Israel and the house of David, Athaliah murdered the whole royal family of Judah, except for her grandson Joash, who escaped. Six years later he was proclaimed king and Athaliah was taken prisoner and executed. From Hutchinson's History of the Nations, published 1915.
