The Ypnkers Horticultural Society's first meeting of the year was held Jan- uary 5 at the Hollywood Inn, when the newly elected oflScers filled their re- spective positions. They are as fol- lows: !'resident, H. Nichols; vice- president, F. Drexler; secretary, L. Taylor; treasurer, P. Macdonald; corre- sponding secretary, J. W. Watts. The committee appointed to look after the annual dinner reported prog- ress, and progress was reported by the (•ommittee in charge of the spring show. The society is still increasing in meniliership. Two more, George Nor- ris ami William Milliott, were added to the list of active members and William Mills was nominated for mem- bership. Mr. Milliott bad offered prizes for the most meritorious exhibit, which brought out a goodly number of en- tries. Mr. Nichols won first, with a fine dish of mushrooms; Robert Coch- rane, second, with antirrhinums. Mr. Macdonald showed a fine cineraria plant, which was awarded a cultural certificate. Mr. Hoffman won honorary mention with a double nasturtium plant. The president and Robert Cochrane were appointed as delegates to attend the dinner of the Dobbs Ferry Horti- cultural Society. The treasurer's report proved satis- factory, with a balance on hand of .$ The society has decided to hold its annual dinner during the second week in February, and all are looking for- ward to it, as it is going to be the best the society has ever held.
