If now the nest with eggs happens to be in the vicinity of such a spot, and the stick be driven in the sand there, one wdll most probably, if eggs be present, knock into one of them, and that is recognizable at once on the lower end of the stick through the viscous yellow musk of the yolk that gets stuck on it. The exact spot is then found, the sand is cleared away with the hands, and the eggs quickly come to light, (HER, i, 921.).
