Between South and Centre Streets, west of Walter, lay theestate formerly Col. William Dudleys. At its southeasterly. DCDLEV HOVSE. comer, now the estate of Mr. Henry Dudley, stands a very an-cient house, in which Deacon Ephraim Murdoch. Mr. Dudleysgrandfather, resided more than a century ago. Here, in whatwas then a very retired spot, Col. Dudley settled, about thetime of his marriage in 1721, built an elegant mansion, whichafter successive alterations by its subsequent owners, wasfinally torn down, and cultivated his extensive farm. Theold farm-house is yet standing. In January, 177), both hissons having deceased, this property, described as %- a mansion-house and thirty acres of land both sides of the road to Ded-ham. seven miles from Boston Town House. was sold.
