The grindingwheel spindle is mounted on this turret and is 5J-2 in. indiameter, running in ball bearings both radial and endthrust, with adjustable take-ups for end wear, either forward. The spindle is driven by means of a largespur gear which meshes into a wide faced fiber pinion onthe shaft of the 25 motor mounted upon the second important feature in the machine is the partly uncovered in one of the photographs. The desiredspeed is obtained by adjusting the speed control hand lever,shown at the right in the front view of the machine, in itsproper position as indicated on the dial behind it.
