At this writing the retailers are, no doubt, in the midst of their busiest time. From the way orders were re- ceived by the wholesalers, business in general will be good. The wholesalers are practically cleaned up in every- thing. In fact, in many instances they could have made use of additional quantities of roses and carnations. The supply of lilies, however, especially Easter lilies, far exceeded the demand and this is one item of which there will be plenty left after the rush is over. Daffodils and tulips were also seen in large quantities and the de- mand was limited. Valley, however, was especially in demand and the supply was hardly sufficient to meet the re- quirements. Violets were in the market, but were of a poor quality. Weather conditions are responsible. Sweet peas are being received in large quantities, but the quality is not there. Custom- ers complain that the peas are soft and weather conditions account for this. There have been some fine yellow dai- sies with extra long stems on the mar- ket and the florists have been using tliese in preference to sweet peas and valley. Rome fine gladioli were in the niarkot during last week and also ship- ments of southern lilacs. The demand for orchids far exceeded the supply, and many customers were disappointed.
