The survey reports for the Southwest show thatin general the living conditions of the Spanishpopulation are considerably lower than thoseof the older American stock, that their housesare poor, their general environment unsanitary, their educational facilities scant and oftenthere is no organized religious opportunity ofany sort for them. One rural community, for example, with a sub-stantial settlement of Mexicans reports noschool or church opportunities and no Biblesin the homes although one of the Mexicanleaders in this community has made a definiteplea to representative Protestants for assist-ance in alleviating this condition of instances of need abound.
