Nelson gives it as a rather rare summer resident innortheastern Illinois. Mr. Frank M. Woodruff considers it a rarebird in the Chicago Area and records a specimen taken by T. Gault at Glen Ellyn, May 24, 1898. Prof. Ridgway foundit an abundant species in suitable localities in southern Illinois,and Mr. John F. Ferry found it common in the vicinity of Henry,Marshall Co., Illinois. It has been found breeding at
