It is astounding to see the rapid strides that the movingpicture business is making. The moving picture manufac-turers and their mechanics seem actually to be cannot keep pace with the wonderful improvements thatare daily being sprung upon the wondering world. In everyoffice I visit I find a fixed absorption in the subject—almostto the exclusion of other subjects of interest. The work hasto be accomplished in so fast and furious a manner that it isnecessary for the moving picture manufacturer to pay the. F. W. HOCHSTETTER most rigid attention to business—there can be no side-track-ing there. The Ortho Film Co., of which Mr. F. W. Hochstetter isthe president and manager; Mr. Abe. I. DeRoy, treasurer;Mr. W. E. Armstrong, first vice-president, and Mr. IsraelDeRoy, second vice-president, Mr. R. A. Gamble, secretary,and Mr. Albert Teital, manager of the commercial depart-ment, has been producing feature films, and largely edu-cational subjects. A unique feature of their work is theproduction of films for advertising purposes. For instance,the Heinz pickle factory was taken, showing all the differ-ent departments, its workings, and so forth; and so havebeen numbers of other large factories and places of indus-try. The Colorado Springs Sanatorium has also been taken,showing the treatment given patients there. There is awonderful advantage for advertising in the moving films are sent free to exhibitors.
