The Conformation of the Lard, or Fat, Hog.—The ideal lard hog should be broad and deep inbody, supported by strong, well-placed legs andfeet. As with the beef steer, the fat hog has itshigh-priced meat along the back, loin and hog differs from the steer in that a relativelyhigher valuation is placed upon the ham, or whatcorresponds to the thigh of the steer.
