In Norse myth, Freya, also spelled Freyja and Freyia, was the goddess of fertility, love and marriage, and light and peace.
In Scandinavian (Norse) mythology, Freya, also spelled Freyja and Freyia, was the goddess of fertility, love and marriage, and light and peace. Her brother was Freyr. When Freya wore Brisingamen, the necklace had the dwarfs make for her, no man or god could withstand her charms. Myths said she rode in a chariot pulled by two black cats, as seen here, in this 1905 illustration. The cats were a gift from the Norse god Thor.
