The photograph captures the 2nd Headquarters Building of the Signal Corps located at 1816 F St. in Washington This building, previously in use from May 1864 to Oct. 1865, was demolished in 1914. It was replaced by the Department of Interior Building, completed in June 1917. Construction for the new building started in July 1915. The photograph features Sergeant Combe of the Signal Corps and is numbered 47343.
