(Cabinets of Jay, Gould, Sanderson Smith, and Prime.) I dredged half a dozen specimens of this species in 1852 at Hell Gate, between Mill Rock and the month of the Harlem river, and having submitted them to Mr, Stimpson, who pro- nounced them distinct from the Venus gemma Totten, I disti-i- buted them as a new species. Since this time Mr. Sanderson Smith has found it at Greenport in more abundance and in company with the Y. gemma.
