Great attention should be paid to the cleanlinessnot only of the interrupter but also of the motor, and especially of thecommutator and oil cups. This tap is thenclosed and the other connected to the gas supply left open, and advantagetaken of the pressure from the mains. If there is no handy gas supply agas bag may be used or ether vapour.
