A recruit from Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, throws a simulated grenade during a combat fitness test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 18. The grenade must land within a square target 20-yards away to subtract five-seconds from their overall time. If they miss the target, five seconds is added on to their time. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 9.
