St. Mary's Church and Anne of Cleves Public House in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England, UK


Photo was taken on Burton Street and shows two medieval buildings in Melton Mowbray. On the left, Anne of Cleves House, built around 1384. It served as accommodation for Chantry Priests but is now a Public House. It is so called because revenues from the house and land were given to Anne of Cleves by Henry VIIIth as part of their divorce settlement. On the right is the Church of St Mary the Virgin, dating from the late 12th century. These buildings lie on the route of the heritage trail historic walk around Melton Mowbray attracting tourists and locals alike.
