Louis XVI is received by the new Mayor of Paris, Jean Sylvain Bailly, July 17 1789 (19th/early 20th century). One of the instigators of the Oath of the Tennis Court, Bailly (1736-1793) was elected Mayor of Paris by the Commune the day after the storming of the Bastille.
