Axel. The emblem is derived from the municipal weapon of Axel. Left below refers to the genus Giselle, an influential Flemish family, possibly referring to the coat of arms of the Sint-Pietersabdij in Ghent which abbey in the weapon made three keys. Upstairs above is the city of Ghent. On the right is the weapon of the Axeler craft, which was united in 1565 with Axel. The shells in the recognition sign recall the pilgrimage trip (1481) from Joost van Giselle to the Holy Land. Logo lined by Axel (1956-1963).
