The Melancia,or water-melon, for instance, is said to be responsiblefor an increase in the death-rate when it is in is claimed by those who are fond of this, to me,very uninteresting fruit, that it is harmless initself, but that if wine or any kind of spirit is takenimmediately after eating it the fruit is convertedinto an indigestible mass in the stomach, and deathresults inevitably.
