Central lamp of Main door (Goeido Mon or Taishido Mon), built in 1911, with 27 m. high, is one of the three great temple gates in Kyoto. Higashi Honganji Temple (of "Pure Land" Buddhism sect). Founded in 1602 on land donated by by Tokugawa Ieyasu (1st Shogun of Edo Period), the present building were completed in 1895 after the original structures were los through fire.
