The old United States Mint on , near Montgomery, has been rebuUt, andthough not an elegant structure, is substantial, and Montgomery streets, occupied by Wells,Fargo and Express, was the first sub-stantial erection in the city. It was importedfrom China, where the stone was all cut andfitted, ready for its place. Phelans Block, on Market Street, comer ofOFarrell, is one of the most imposing, sub-stantial and elegant in the city.
