The Irtish and the Obi rivers, rei|uiring bridges and 2,800 ft. clear length, will be provisionallycrossed by steam ferries. As noted above, the thickness ol ballast is to be 12^ in.,which requires about cub. yds. per mile ; the tieswill be 8 ft. in length, and their number is about 2,325per mile.
