Many incidents could be given whereyoung men have received better wagesand more congenial employment. Dur-ing the past six years shop employeshave become office men, clerks havebecome bookkeepers or stenographers,machinists apprentices have becomedraftsmen, and they will all say thatit was due to the instruction receivedat Hillyer Institute. Not only are the young men of Hart-ford being benefitted by these eveningclasses, but others who come from sur-rounding towns. In one season asmany as 42 have come from the fol-lowing towns, viz.: South Glaston-bury, Glastonbury, Windsor Locks,Wethersfield, South Manchester, Man-chester, Thompsonville, New Britain,Windsor, Bristol, Collinsville, EastHartford, East Berlin, Unionville, EastWindsor Hill, Hopewell, Rocky Hill,Newington and Bloomfield. The Institute has received earnestcalls from young men for machineshop and other trade school facilities
