The Garden House is a new-build 179-square-metre home sited in Battersea, south-west London. The design was driven by a number of challenges: the requirement of increased space, the need to incorporate compulsory flood-proving measures due to the site's close proximity to the river Thames and the compliance with planning restrictions. The house comprises five bedrooms, a study and a kitchen/living room. The garden was excavated to create a high-sided watertight concrete courtyard which increased the floor area of the property.
