Major General Joaquin Malavet, USPACOM Strategic Planning and Policy Director (J5), Major General Park In-ho, ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff J5, and Major General Naoki Kajiwara, Japan Joint Staff J5, led their respective delegations. The three sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further expanding trilateral initiatives as an appropriate and meaningful response to North Korean behavior. They also agreed to pursue closer military-to-military coordination, and to communicate more directly, and more often, about regional threats that impact the security of all three countries. USPACOM reiterated the United States’ ironclad security commitments to the ROK and Japan. ( Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Robin W. Peak/Released)
