The Bubacli, or Bubachs No. 5, strawberry, shownin Fig. 15, is an imperfect variety. The fruit is irregular andwedge shaped, of very large size, bright red in color, and hasseeds that are not prominent; the flesh is bright red, juicy,subacid, moderately firm, and of good quaHty. The plant is. Fig. 14 a vigorous grower, with a moderate number of runners; thefoliage is moderately good but rusts considerably. The fruitripens medium to late in the season. This is one of the mostsatisfactory varieties in regard to size and appearance of fruit,productiveness, and good foliage. 25. The Stevens, or Stevens Late Champion strawberry,shown in Fig. 16, is classed as a perfect or semiperfect fruit is somewhat irregular in shape, but averages wedgeshaped; it is of large size and retains its size well throughout §15 STRAWBERRIES 17 the season; the color is an attractive light scarlet and theberries are well colored; the seeds are depressed; the flesh is alight scarlet, firm, agreeably acid, and of good quality. Theplant is a vigorous, healthy grower, but sets few plants and isunproductive; because it sets but few plants, this varietyshould be set closer than most varieties; the foliage is healthy,and is made up of large, dark-green leaves.
