Interior of a carriage on the La Rhune rack railway, showing the wooden seats. These carriages are part of electrical multiple units that consist of two coaches joined together with the motor at the lower end. So the engine pushes the carriages up the hill and vice versa. The journey to the summit or from the summit to the Col de St Ignace takes about 30 minutes. During the peak of the tourist season the trains are usually full and a wait of several hours may be necessary.
