Demonstrators seen with the portrait of Mame Mbaye during the protest. Protest against institutional racism took place at Nelson Mandela square in Madrid one year after the death of Mame Mbaye, a Senegalese street vendor who died while being chased by the police for selling on the streets. According to the demonstrators, the young man did not have any legal papers despite having spent more than 10 years in Spain and authorities did not help his family after his death. They also paid homage to the victims of the New Zeland terrorist attack in mosques.
