Sow for very early use in hot-beds during the winter and early spring, or later on in sheltered borders, in well-manured, deeply- dug, and finely raked soil; if not well stimulated into a rapid growth, they become fibrous and tough ; sow in drills 10 inches apart, and thin to 2 inches in the rows. Sow at intervals of two or three weeks until September for a succession. Sow winter varieties in July and August; like the turnip, they make the best growth in autumn, and must be taken out before severe frost, and stored away in a cool cellar in sand, or a pit, where they will keep tender and crisp all winter; before using put in cold water, which adds to their freshness. Dreer's Earliest White Globe Forcing. The earliest white radish in existence, beautiful oval-shape, transparent ivory-white skin, very small root, small top ; flesh white, tender and crisp. It is particularly adapted to forcing in greenhouse or hot-bed, also does well in open ground. Pkt. 10 cts., oz. 20 cts., £lb. 50 cts., lb. $ Cardinal Globe. This is the best forcing variety, and is sown largely by market gardeners. It is of globular shape and brilliant cardinal red-color, short top. Pkt. 5 cts., oz. 10 cts., J- lb. 30 cts., lb. White=Tipped Scarlet Gem. Excellent for forcing, short leaves, bright scarlet, with white tip. Scarlet Frame.
