Estabiislied 22 Years SCRANTON, PA. BOSTON. The Market. Cut flower business is much improved under the stimulus of Thanksgiving buy- ing. The market began to take a decided brace November 20 and the improvement continues this week. The Harvard-Yale football game created a good demand for flowers, red roses, mums and carna- tions with violets being given a decided boost. Boses are in much reduced sup- ply and prices have advanced sharply, with short-stemmed stock cleaning up at $6 to $10 per hundred and a proportion- ate advance in other grades. Nearly all growers are off crop at present and at this time it looks as though hybrid teas would realize high prices for the holiday. Carnations are doing much better. Bed and crimson flowers made $8 to $10 per hundred for the football game and present quotations are $5 to $8, with fancies higher. Chrysanthemums are cleaning up well at from $2 to $6 per dozen. For pom- pons there is also an excellent demand. Bonnaffon, White Bonnaffon and Bager are now more in evidence than any other varieties. Violets readily sell at $ to $3 per hundred and are large supply. Some nice sweet peas are com- ing in. These sell well at $2 to $3 per.
