The play wasbased on the historical facts whichled to the birth of a new state, Ten-nessee, and was centered about theearly public life of John Sevier. The stage decorations were uniquein that they were very characteristicof the early pioneer days of EastTennessee. Two rough chinked logcabins had been constructed and therewas a profusion of trees on therostrum which took the mind of theaudience back to early frontier costumes of the players werealso very characteristic of the earlydays, some of the higher personageswere clad in the best colonial dress,others of lower station, in rougherpioneer style.
