Fig. 3 shows an electric locomotive which was built by the Car Company for the San Antonio Brewing Company, SanAntonio, Tex., and which is equipped with automatic freight carcouplers, and four G. E. 57 motors, mounted on St. Louis CarCompanys No. 15 double trucks. This locomotive is capable of pass. It was thought an impulse cleaner does not contain suf-ficient power to remove heavy scale, and the turbine type of water-wheel was used. It is this feature which, the manufacturers claim, gives aboutfive times as much power to the turbine as to the impulsecleaner. It is amazing to know the quantity of scale which manyof these machines have removed, at a cost of from ten to forty.
