When usedby electric railways, current may be taken directly fromthe trolley wire or the third-rail. The motor is mountedon the frame of the machine and the drive is throughworm gearing. The weight of the machine completewith motor and starting box is 225 lb. Quick-acting clamping devices allow the machine tobe easily placed at work, and the clamps may be readily.
