Vincent Tournat, French physicist, in an anechoic chamber. Tournat is a CNRS researcher at the Acoustics Laboratory of the University of Maine (LAUM), Le Mans, France. His research interests include granular acoustics and applications leading to the creation of new types of materials to control the propagation of sound. He has worked on the generation of ultrasound by laser and the application of acoustic methods for imaging and characterizing cracks in solids. Photographed in 2011.
