Air Force Col. Scott Thompson, 502d Installation Support Group commander, presents his remarks during the Tribute to Freedom sculpture grand opening, Mar. 27, 2019, at the corner of Highway 90 and Military Drive. The event marked the completion of phase one of the Lackland Corridor Gateway Project. Designed by George Schroeder, the art sculpture piece includes five forms representing the five branches of the Armed Forces, with a central obelisk modeled after the Washington Monument.
