The Tuileries, from the Garden Front
The view taken in 1828 shows the Tuileries, from the Garden Front. The palace was commenced by Catherine de Medicis and completed by Henry IV and Louis XIII. The original designers were Delorme and Bullart. The pavilions of Flora and Mars were added later. Many different architects including Veau and Dorbay were involved. The gallery of the Louvre links to the Tuileries. The image was drawn by B Ferry under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by F J Havell
