NEW "ROSE CROWN" COMET ASTER ROSE PINK WITH WHITE CENTRE 584 This striking novelty is of more than usual merit; the flowers are of the true Giant Comet type, 4 to 6 inches across, composed of long, wavy, twisted petals, gracefully formed into loose, yet densely double, flowers resembling some of the finer Japanese Chrysanthemums. The centre crown of the flower is pure white, surrounded by outer rows of petals of a charming rose pink color, a unique and beautiful combination. The plants are of vigorous, healthy growth, about 15 inches high, each plant bearing from 20 to 30 of those magnificent flowers on long, stiff stems, which give them an added value as a cut flower for vases, florists' use, etc. If the plants can be grown where slightly shaded from the hottest sun, the coloring will be more vivid and the flowers will last longer. A diploma of honor was awarded this Aster by the French Society of Botany and Horticulture. {Seecut). Per pkt.,10c. Leaves are soft and whit- ish on both surfaces. Its flower heads, borne on long stems and rising well above the foliage, are large and showy,from 2% to 3 inches across; the ray florets, being pure white on the upper sur- face, are embellished by a narrow yellow zone at their base; reverse of petals pale lilac. Under the influence of bright sunlight the flowers spread out almost flat, and the pure white of the ray florets contrasts beau- tifully to the light blue disk with its slightly projecting white stamens, a lovely combination of colors.
