Mesolite is a hydrated sodium calcium aluminum silicate, a tectosilicate mineral that belongs to the zeolite group. It is closely akin to other zeolite minerals like natrolite and scolecite and much similar in appearance. Its acicular (needle-like) and often radiating white crystals are formed inside voids left by gas bubbles in cooling volcanic rock. Specimen measures 50 mm across, origin unknown.
