WINTER PEARS. Barseckle.—It is a cross between Bartlett andSeckel; hence the name. In size it is a little smallerthan Bartlett, and ripens a Ifttle later than color is pale green. The flesh is fine grained,white, very melting and juicy, and in quality unmis-takably the best. It is not as sweet as Seckel, butmore vinous, and is preferred by many in qualityto Seckel. The trees are vigorous upright growers. Duchess (Duchess dAngouleme).—Very large;dull, greenish yellow, streaked and spotted withrusset; flesh white, buttery and very juicy, with arich and very excellent flavor.
